Confidence really does change everything! The way you feel about yourself influences how you live and interact with your friends and family daily. When you are more confident about yourself and who you are as a person, it’s a lot easier to be positive and actually enjoy spending time with others.
Think about when you feel most confident. Maybe it’s when you have your favorite pair or jeans on or a pop of red lipstick? Maybe it’s when you are surrounded by your family or people that you love? What if you could feel this way all of the time?
Of course, finding self-confidence isn’t always easy. It’s definitely something we all struggle with, and it becomes more difficult with things like social media and comparing ourselves to others.
However, there are many easy ways to work through these difficulties and make self-confidence come more naturally to us. After all, the most successful people in life are confident and go after what they want.
Say goodbye to that awful feeling of being self-conscious, and get ready to be more confident today!
12 Easy Ways To Boost Your Self-Confidence Today
1. Treat yourself like you would treat your best friend or sister:
One of the best ways to be most confident is to treat yourself like you would treat your best friend or sister. Most of us can become our own worst critic pretty quickly. When we make a mistake, it’s easy to tear ourselves down, but is this how we would treat our best friend?
If my friend made a mistake, I would tell her that it’s a great learning experience and to use it to her advantage in the future. This is a much more positive way of thinking. Instead of tearing yourself down further, pick yourself up, and you will feel much more confident.
2. Don’t label yourself in a negative light:
I recently read the book Atomic Habits, which explains the importance of forming small goals and habits to create big results. One of the first things the book talks about is the importance of identity and how it’s the first step to habit-forming.
Continuously labeling yourself as shy, self-conscious, anxious, etc. creates an identity for yourself that you will begin to believe.
These identities will make you feel self-conscious because they limit what you can and can’t do. Instead of thinking you’re shy, think that you are a more reserved person who is working on stepping out of his/her comfort zone.
Start labeling yourself in a more positive light, and you will begin to feel a lot more confident.
3. Create a routine and stick to it:
I heard Ed Mylett explain on the Skinny Confidential Podcast that unconfident people are individuals who continuously let themselves down. I can’t even count how many times I have started a new workout, morning routine, activity, etc only to stop doing it a couple of days later.
Letting yourself down consistently will make you feel unconfident. Create a simple routine that you know you can stick to. Something easy like journaling for 5 minutes before bed. Do this routine consistently without skipping a day. Eventually, you will begin to trust yourself more and can add in more habits.
4. Surround yourself with positive people:
The people you surround yourself with have the biggest impact on you, so it makes sense to surround yourself with positive people who build you up. Spend time with friends and family who believe in you, make you happy, and are always there for you.
Confidence is contagious. If you hang out with confident people, you will become more confident. There are only so many hours in a day. Make sure to spend time with people who make those limited hours count!
5. Don’t try to be perfect:
There isn’t enough time in the day for you to be perfect and please everyone all of the time. As long as you are confident in yourself and go after what you want, you are doing the right thing!
6. Dress nicely:
This is something I’ve been trying to do more often. Of course, it’s fun to lounge around in sweats all day, especially with so many online classes.
However, I always feel better when I actually get dressed in the morning. It makes me a lot more productive and feel more put together. I definitely recommend putting on a cute outfit in the morning if it’s something that makes you feel confident.
7. Give back to others:
It’s so easy to get caught up in our own world and problems that we forget just how big the world really is. Taking time to focus on others really puts this into perspective.
I am a big supporter of volunteer work and community service. When I am at college, I volunteer at a daycare, which I love. Participating in community service is a great way to give back to others.
You never know what others are going through, and your kindness has the ability to put a smile on someone’s face, which is priceless. Volunteering will help you feel more fulfilled, confident, and positive. The best part is, there are so many service opportunities!
8. Do activities you enjoy:
To live a confident and positive lifestyle, you need to spend time doing things that you enjoy and put a smile on your face. It can be something as simple as going on a walk, journaling, or listening to your favorite podcast.
Anything that inspires you to keep going and makes you happy.
9. Write down your goals & manifest them- start small:
I love manifesting my goals and dreams, but to do this, you have to write down your goals and start small.
Write down one major dream/big goal and underneath it, write down smaller goals you need to accomplish first to reach your main goal.
When you write down your goals, you know what you are working towards, which will make you feel a lot more confident.
10. Think positive:
In order to be confident, you need to see yourself in a positive way. One of the best ways to think is a more positive way is by reading positive quotes daily.
Positive quotes are helpful because they can make you think about things going on in your life in a more positive way. Start your day with a few inspiring quotes from Pinterest, and you will feel ready for your day!

11. Stop caring about what others think and what they are doing: (they aren’t thinking about you)
One of my favorite quotes that I talk about a lot is, “successful people never worry about what others are doing.” We have a habit of thinking that others are always watching us and care what we do when the reality is they are way more focused on their own lives.
2020 taught me the importance of focusing my energy on bettering myself instead of what others are doing, which is a game-changer. Know what you want, write down how you will get there, and don’t let anyone hold you back!
12. Be grateful and stand tall:
We are all so lucky to be alive and have the opportunity to build relationships with others, create memories, learn, and have fun. One way to be more confident is always to remember how lucky and special you are.
One way to practice this is through gratitude. Write three things that you are grateful for every morning when you wake up. This will help you live in the moment and appreciate the wonderful life we all have.
Most importantly, stand up tall and walk into every room like you are wearing your favorite pair of jeans or red lipstick. As Ciara once said, “Confidence is everything. Confidence is what makes that simple white tee and jeans look good.”
