22 Essential Amazon Products For College
1. Pop-Socket Wallet
This is by far one of the best things I bought for college!
I used this pop-wallet throughout my freshman year of college (still use it now, haha) and it was a lifesaver! It is the perfect place to put your student ID card and other important cards.
I am able to fit up to 4 cards in it and it’s very secure. If you are going to college, this pop-wallet is a great place to put your important cards. It will make your life a million times easier!
2. Mattress Topper
A mattress topper is super important in college because dorm room beds are not comfortable at all. I promise a mattress topper will make your bed super comfy!
The mattress topper that I used for my freshman year was nice but not my favorite. This mattress topper has a ton of great reviews on Amazon and it is actually recommended by one of my favorite bloggers, Sophia on bysophialee.com Check out her blog here!
Remember to buy this mattress topper in a size Twin X-Long to fit most dorm beds!
3. Planner
If you have read any of my school posts then you know I absolutely love planners! I could literally spend all day shopping for the perfect planner.
My favorite planner brand is the Happy Planner. I really like their planners because they come in different sizes, are super cute, and always make me smile. The mini-sized planner is the size I use, however, it is completely up to your personal preference.
4. Tapestry
Tapestries are the best and easiest dorm room decor item! They make rooms look so cute in such an easy and affordable way!
The picture above shows my tapestry from this past year in my dorm room. The best part is, my tapestry and some other really cute ones are on Amazon for less than $20!
Tapestry Tip! Use large command hooks to hang up your tapestry. Small command hooks aren’t strong enough and your tapestry will fall down. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to use small command hooks to hang up my tapestry and they fell down so many times!

5. Battery Lights
String lights are another one of my favorite ways to decorate a dorm room! College dorm rooms can be pretty dark naturally so it is nice to have extra lighting!
Here are some really cute string lights from Amazon that you can use to decorate your dorm room!
6. Laptop (ASUS Chromebook CORE m3)
Bringing an excellent laptop to college is essential!
I did so much work on my laptop freshman year that would have been a lot harder to do without one.
(This laptop is the one that I used during my freshman year of college and still use today. It’s an amazing laptop and perfect for college students. My favorite thing about this laptop is that it is really lightweight which makes it easy to carry around campus.)
7. Shower Caddy (with straps)
Shower caddies are so helpful in college, especially if you are going to use communal bathrooms!
Having a bag like this will help you organize all of your bathroom supplies. Try to buy one with straps so that you can hang in on a hook outside of the shower.
(This shower caddy is very similar to the one I had freshman year and is perfect for college.)
8. Long Charger
Having a long phone charger (10 feet or more) in college is super helpful because the outlets in dorm rooms are usually not conveniently located.
A long charger like this one will allow you to use your phone while it is charging!
9. Surge Protector/Power Strip
Most colleges do not allow extension cords in dorm rooms because they are fire hazards. Instead, use a long power strip or surge protector.
(I used a Belkin power strip my freshman year and it worked really well!)
10. Fun-Tak
Fun-Tak sticks so much better than tape and won’t damage walls. If your planning to hang any pictures up on your walls definitely bring Fun-Tak!
(If I didn’t use this fun-tak my freshman year, there’s no way all of my pictures would have stayed up.)
11. Command hooks
These are a must if you are planning to hang up any frames, tapestries, or other decorations. They also come in all different sizes and won’t damage walls.
If you are planning to hang up a tapestry make sure to use the larger command hooks. The mini ones are not strong enough and they will fall down which is very annoying.
If you’re looking for a dorm friendly way to hang up decorations, command hooks are the best!
12. Broom and Dustpan
A broom is one of the most important college cleaning supplies. My roommates and I used ours almost every day!
13. Mini Vaccum
It is nice to have a small vacuum in your room because it makes cleaning a lot easier! You definitely don’t need multiple vacuums in your room so make sure to coordinate with your roommate.
This vacuum is my favorite because it works really well and is super compact (perfect for a dorm room!)
14. Mini Fan
A mini fan can come in super handy in college, especially if your dorm doesn’t have air condition. A fan like this is perfect because it works really well and doesn’t take up a lot of space!
15. Water Bottle
Bringing a good water bottle and staying hydrated is so important for college!
Recently, I have really been liking my super sparrow water bottles! They come in SO many different (and CUTE) colors and sizes. These bottles also keep your drink cold or hot for hours!!
I also love my hydro flask and bring it with me practically everywhere at college.
16. Colored Pens
Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens are my absolute favorite pens because they are really nice quality and don’t bleed through paper. They are perfect for writing in planners with!
17. Water Filter (Brita)
Having a Brita in your room is a super easy and convenient way to have access to filtered water. My roommates and I loved our Brita freshman year! It is nice knowing that the water you’re drinking is clean.
18. Mini Keurig
If you like making coffee or tea in the morning, don’t leave home without a mini Keurig! My roommates and I had this Keurig in our room and used it to make tea. It works really well and is definitely worth it!
Also, think about how cute it would look in your room!
19. Drying Rack
My roommate brought this drying rack to college and we used it all of the time. You will probably not want to put some items of clothing in the dryer which is why a drying rack is so helpful.
This rack is foldable so it will not take up a lot of room when it isn’t being used.
20. Comforter/Bedding
I got this white comforter (size twin XL) for my college dorm room. I liked the idea of having a white comforter and then being able to add other accent colors with a fuzzy blanket and other decorations.
This comforter is very fluffy and super inexpensive for the quality!
21. Bed Rest Pillow
I totally forgot to bring a bed rest pillow to college but both of my roommates had one and they are so nice!
They make it so much more comfortable to sit on your bed and do work! I used to borrow my roommate’s all of the time since it was so nice!
The best rest pillow has amazing reviews on Amazon!
22. Under-bed Storage
Under the bed storage will be your best friend in college, especially if you have a small room! I recommend raising or lofting your bed so that you have maximum storage.
I raised my bed and was able to fit so much under my bed! The plastic three drawer cart below (1st pic) is the one that I used to store extra clothes and random essential items.
The only problem is that it will get unorganized very quickly, especially if you’re using it for random items. Try to buy smaller bins that fit inside the drawers to help you organize your things better.
The white cube storage organizer and fabric bins (last two pictures) are a great way to organize your things. I also like that others won’t be able to see your stuff because the bins aren’t clear.
This drawer cart is also cool because it’s not see through.
I hope that you liked this post about the best Amazon products for college! All of these things helped me so much during my freshman year of college and I know that they will help you too!
