If you’re getting ready for college for the first time, you’re probably super excited but a little nervous too! That’s totally normal, and exactly how I felt this time last year before my freshman year of college!
These 5 items for college helped me so much during my freshman year and I know they will help you too!
I didn’t expect these random items all under $30 to help me as much as they did and thought I should share. 🙂
WANT A FREE COLLEGE PACKING LIST!?
#1: Pop-Socket Wallet
If you’ve read any of my past college essential posts, you know that I swear by my pop-socket wallet! I bought mine last summer right before college, and it has been a lifesaver ever since!
My pop-wallet is by far one of the best things I ever bought because I literally use it every single day, especially in college. It is the perfect place to put your student ID card and other important cards.
I can’t even tell you how many times my pop-wallet prevented me from being locked out of my room, haha!
I am able to fit up to 4 cards in mine and it’s super secure. If you are going to college, this pop-wallet is a great place to put your important cards. It will make your life a million times easier!
#2: Shower Caddy (with straps)
I promise, if you’re living at college, you’ll want one of these asap! Shower caddies like this one are so helpful in college, especially if you are going to use communal bathrooms!
Having a bag like this will help you organize all of your bathroom supplies. Try to buy one with straps so that you can hang in on a hook outside of the shower.
(This shower caddy is very similar to the one I had freshman year and is perfect for college.)
#3: Long Charger
Having a long phone charger (10 feet or more) in college is super helpful because the outlets in dorm rooms are usually not conveniently located.
A long charger like this one will allow you to use your phone while it is charging!
#4: Water Filter (Brita)
My roommates and I got so much use out of our Brita freshman year! A Brita is great because it makes it super easy to keep filtered water in your room. It’s also just nice knowing that the water you’re drinking is clean, haha.
If you’re looking for an easy and convenient way to filter water in your dorm room, definitely get a Brita.
Also!! While we are on the topic of water, bringing a good water bottle and staying hydrated in college is super important!
Every college student needs a good water bottle that they can carry around campus.
Two of my favorite water bottles are the Hydro Flask and Super Sparrow bottles. These bottles come in really fun colors and will keep your drink hot or cold for hours!
#5: Drying Rack
Thank goodness my roommate brought this drying rack to college because my roommates and I got so much use out of it! I never expected to use this as much as I did.
The thing is, college dryers aren’t always very gentle on clothes. You will probably not want to put some items of clothing in the dryer which is why a drying rack is so helpful.
The best part about this rack is that it’s foldable so it will not take up a lot of room when it isn’t being used (which is great for dorm room living!)
