Maybe you can relate but one thing that drives me crazy is when I don’t have something that I need at the moment and already own.
That’s why I try to make sure that when I’m at school my backpack has all of the essentials.
I thought it would be fun to share with you a list of everything I think you should keep in your college backpack. If you carry all of these things you won’t have to worry about not having something when your out or in class.
I hope that this post helps you!
School Supplies Your College Backpack Needs
Please save this picture to your favorite Pinterest board.
1. Backpack
Obviously you will need a quality backpack for college. Try to get a spacious one that has a lot of room for your books and school supplies.
This backpack is a perfect example of a backpack that has a lot of room and is still cute!
2. Backpack Essential Items
Make sure to keep important items either in a cute pouch like this or in a pocket of your backpack. These are the types of items that would stink to be without if you ever need them.
Earphones
Make sure to keep your earphones or air-pods with you at all times. It can be really annoying when you forget them and they always make the walk to class better!
These are the air-pods that I have and use all of the time! They really are the best!
Water Bottle
Staying hydrated throughout the day is super important which is why it’s really good to keep a water bottle in your backpack! I used my hydro-flask every day in college but lately, I have been loving my super sparrow water bottles!
They come in SO many different (and CUTE) colors and sizes. They also keep your drink cold or hot for hours!! The best part is that they are super inexpensive for the quality!
Pads & Tampons
Make sure to keep some pads and tampons in your backpack in case you ever need them. It’s never a good situation when you need one and don’t have anything to use. Always having some in your backpack could help your friends too.
U by Kotex is by far my favorite tampons and pads brand! The wings on the pads actually stick which is so nice! If you are going to stock up on anything for college, definitely choose these products.
Dorm Room Storage/Organization Idea! My college roommate stored hers in such a smart way! She bought a box of pads, tampons, and liners and filled a memory/photo box up with them. It took up a lot less room and was very organized.
Sunglasses
You never know when it will get sunny all of a sudden and it might be painful to walk around campus without glasses. Make sure to bring some cute glasses like these in case you need them.
Band-Aids
Band-aids or a small first aid kit is very smart to keep in your backpack.
I keep this Cute Welly First Aid Kit that comes with band-aids in my backpack and it’s perfect!
Advil or Tylenol
This is important especially if you’re on your period or prone to headaches. You may have to get through a class period and not feel well. It will be very helpful to have one of these medicines.
I like to keep a travel size Advil container in my backpack in case I ever need it and I’m not in my room.
Hand Sanitizer
I’m sure you know this but obviously using hand sanitizer and washing your hands has never been more important! Make sure to keep some hand sanitizer in your backpack.
The virus is still out there and we are all going to have to be extremely careful.
Mask
Make sure to keep an extra mask in your backpack so that you always have an extra.
Hair Ties Or Scrunchies
Don’t you hate it when you want to put your hair up and can’t because you don’t have a hair tie? This always drives me insane because I own so many but sometimes just don’t have one with me. This is why it’s important to keep some extras in your bag.
I actually bought this pack of scrunchies from Amazon and surprisingly they are really nice for such a low price!
Deodorant
You never know when you’ll need to freshen up throughout the day haha. It’s always safe to keep some deodorant in your bag too.
Chap-Stick
Chapstick is a big one!! Make sure to have some chapstick on you at all times. This chapstick is my favorite!
It’s the worst feeling when your lips are chapped and you can’t do anything about it.
Tissues
Tissues are another great item to keep in your bag in case you need them. I like keeping these smaller packs in my bag.
Floss
This probably won’t happen often but you could find yourself in a situation where you need floss and it’s super uncomfortable when you don’t have any.
Personally, I like using floss picks so much better than regular floss. I think they make it so much easier to floss!
Power Charger Or Charger
A portable charger can come in handy especially on super busy days!
Gum
Gum is the best! My favorite is peppermint Extra gum. I like to keep some on my desk and in my backpack.
Snacks!!
Make sure to always keep a couple of extra snacks in your backpack in case you ever get hungry. My go-to backpack snacks are fruit snacks and granola bars because they are easy to eat on the go.
3. School Supplies
Make sure to keep all of your super important school supplies in your backpack as well!
Planner
Having a good planner is super important in college! I love planners and could literally shop for the perfect one for hours.
My favorite planner is the Mini Happy Planner. Happy Planners are very cute and organized. Here are some other really great planner options!
I have the Happy Planner Productivity and Star Quotes sticker packs as well. They are great for decorating your planner and laptop.
Notebooks, Folders, Binders, Etc.
Here are some of my favorite and most useful school supplies.
Writing Utensils
I like using mechanical pencils so that I don’t have to worry about having a sharpener. Highlighters and pens are also great to have!
Pencil Case
A spacious pencil case is the best to bring because it will provide you with a lot more room for your supplies.
The pencil case below looks very spacious and provides multiple pockets for increased organization!
Calculator & Charger
If you have a graphing calculator don’t forget to bring it to college! If you need to buy one make sure to check with your college to see which version they recommend.
